Taking the first step to get support is the hardest part.
I am a Tavistock-trained, NHS-experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. I offer once or twice-weekly therapy for individuals seeking support with emotional and psychological difficulties.
With a calm, containing approach, I work with people facing a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and questions of identity and self-worth. I have particular expertise in working with trauma — including sexual trauma — as well as the effects of narcissistic relationships, addiction, disordered eating, and long-standing low mood.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy provides a confidential and thoughtful space to explore the deeper roots of emotional distress. Whether you're looking for short-term, focused support or open-ended therapy for more in-depth exploration, we will consider together what best suits your needs. I offer an initial consultation with no obligation to continue.
My consulting room in Nottingham is quiet, discreet, and designed to promote a sense of calm and safety. It is conveniently located, with on-site parking and a bus stop directly across the road.
For those who prefer or require remote sessions, I also offer online psychotherapy — allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
If you’re thinking about starting therapy, I welcome you to get in touch
Psychodynamic therapy is primarily used to treat depression and other serious psychological disorders, especially in those who have lost meaning in their lives and have difficulty forming or maintaining personal relationships but also supporting those with mild symptoms that may be equally causing distress.
In psychodynamic psychotherapy, you can expect a safe containing space where anything can be said and thought about meaningfully.
Together we will explore significant life experiences and think together about their impact on your life and relationships.
The first consultation is a space for us to begin exploring what has brought you to seek therapy at this point in your life. It’s an opportunity to reflect on your concerns, consider what you might be hoping for from the process, and to think together about whether psychodynamic psychotherapy feels like the right approach for you.
This initial meeting also gives you a sense of what it might be like to work with me and to experience the therapeutic setting. We’ll begin to consider how we might work together, and whether a short-term or open-ended framework may be most helpful.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is not suited to everyone. It involves a thoughtful, in-depth exploration of how early relationships and experiences may shape present-day emotional life, including how these patterns may emerge within the therapeutic relationship itself. If, after our meeting, it feels appropriate to proceed, we can make a plan together that supports your needs.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through psychotherapy, you will be supported to recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Psychodynamic therapy can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
